Massaman Peppered Beef Skewers


Full of colour and flavour, this easy to prepare recipe will become one of your favourites.

Serves: 4


  • 400g trimmed beef rump steak, thinly sliced
  • 210g jar Five Tastes Massaman Curry Paste
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • ¼ red capsicum, cut into 3cm squares
  • ¼ green capsicum, cut into 3cm squares
  • 1 red onion, cut into 8 wedges
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornflour
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Steamed jasmine or basmati rice and fresh coriander leaves, for serving


Step 1

Place meat in a bowl, add ¼ cup Five Tastes Curry Paste and oil, stir to combine. Thread capsicum, onion wedges and beef strips onto 8 skewers and refrigerate for 30 minutes to marinate.

Step 2

Cook skewers on a chargrill or BBQ plate until cooked to your liking. Rest for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Meanwhile, combine remaining curry paste, brown sugar, cornflour, water and pepper in a small saucepan and bring to the boil, stirring continuously until thick and glossy.

Step 4

Serve skewers on a bed of rice, drizzled with Massaman sauce and garnished with coriander.

Tasty Tip!

For a milder version, omit pepper from sauce.
